Tottenham Hotspur fought back from 1-0 down to beat Sunderland 4-1 at White Hart Lane on Saturday.
Patrick Van Aanholt gave relegation-haunted Sunderland the lead five minutes before half time but seconds later Christian Eriksen equalized.
Spurs kicked on in the second half with Mousa Dembele putting them ahead, then another from Eriksen and a Harry Kane penalty kicked adding some more gloss to the scoreline.
With the win Mauricio Pochettino‘s side momentarily move to within four points of top spot and have 39 points, while Sam Allardyce‘s Sunderland stay in the bottom three and have 18 points.

The game then settled down with Sunderland happy to sit back and spring counter attacks but 10 minutes before the break Jeremain Lens was caught on the ball and Spurs launched a pacey 5-on-2 counter which resulted in Erik Lamela flashing his effort wide of the far post with three of his teammates wide-open.
That miss proved to be costly as five minutes before the break Sunderland were ahead. Adam Johnson put a perfect pass in-behind Kieran Trippier and Van Aanholt raced into the box and smashed home at the near post. 1-0.
However, just 21 seconds later Spurs were level as Pickford saved well from Kane initially but the loose ball popped up to Eriksen and his scuffed shot could only be helped in to his own goal by Sunderland midfielder Lee Cattermole.
Lens had a free kick saved seconds later as the game exploded into life and right on half time Pickford tipped away Eriksen’s low-drive as a slow-burner burst into life in the closing stages of the opening 45 minutes.
In the second half the end-to-end nature of the game continued with Sunderland having a great chance to go ahead. From a Spurs set piece the away side launched a counter and Johnson fed the ball through to Defoe who slammed his shot into the side-netting.
Spurs then went ahead as a corner from the left found Rose and Pickford saved his shot well but the follow-up fell to Dembele who jinxed inside a sent a low effort past Pickford’s reach. 2-1 to Spurs who turned it around.
